A Taste of Havana and Saddles & Sunsets: Riding Through Viñales’ Dreamscape

March 6-11, 2026

This 6-day “Support for the Cuban People” Program welcomes you to Havana and explores the breathtaking countryside of the Vinales Valley via horseback.
Program Cost: $1880, Double Occupancy | Single Supplement +$110

Saddle up for an unforgettable adventure through Cuba’s breathtaking Viñales Valley on a small-group “Support for the Cuban People” program, limited to just 12 participants. Ride gentle, sure-footed horses along winding trails framed by towering mogotes, lush tobacco fields, and vibrant wildflowers. Along the way, meet local farmers, learn traditional cultivation methods, and share stories that connect cultures. This immersive journey offers more than scenic beauty—it’s a chance to experience Cuba’s rural heart, support its people directly, and create bonds as enduring as the valley’s timeless landscapes. A ride through the Viñales Valley is a ride through the soul of Cuba.

The program is 6 days and 5 nights, including three days of horseback riding.  Accommodations will be in US-approved hotels and private homes, called casas particulares. Meals provided include dinner on Day 1, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Day 2 3, and 5, breakfast and lunch on Day 4, and breakfast on Day 6.

Day 1
After your arrival to Cuba, we begin with a warm welcome in our Havana accommodations, followed by a walking tour of La Habana Vieja provided by an English-speaking guide. We will visit the primary plazas and parks of La Habana Vieja including Plaza de Armas, Plaza de la Catedral, Parque Central, Plaza Vieja, and Plaza de San Francisco de Asis. Dinner will be provided at a local paladar followed by a lively presentation of traditional Cuban music. On our second day, we will enjoy a scenic ride to Viñales with a stop for lunch in Las Terrazas, an incredible natural area and the home of Polo Montañez, famous for his Nueva Trova and Cuban folk music.

Days 3, 4, and 5
Full of exploration via horseback, eating with and learning from local farmers about tobacco, coffee, rum, organic fruit and vegetable production, and local apiculture, we will experience rural Cuban culture at its finest.  On Day 4, a Viñales valley exploration via private taxi is available for those who would rather experience the area by car than ride horseback.  We will visit a local organic farm for a finale celebration and dinner on Day 5 and celebrate our final evening with a visit to the Polo Montañez Cultural Center for a final musical presentation and dancing.

One thing our participants particularly enjoy about this week of exploration is the opportunity to learn about the guajiro (cowboy) culture and lifestyle and organic agriculture in this incredible UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Viñales Valley.  Participants are able to purchase coffee and honey from local producers, which are great gifts and souvenirs to take back to the US while directly supporting the farmers.

Day 6
We will depart from Viñales and transfer directly to Jose Marti International Airport to depart Cuba.
